Seward Community Health Center is seeking a Full-Time, Medical Director/Physician (MD/DO) for our small community health center located in beautiful Seward, Alaska. Candidates with a background in rural family medicine, pediatrics, and women's health, or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are especially encouraged to apply. We see patients of all ages (newborn to 100+).

Seward, Alaska is a small, picturesque town located 120 miles south of Anchorage and is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains in the center of Kenai Fjords National Park. Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Medical Director/Physician directs all aspects of the provision of medical care at the Seward Community Health Center (SCHC). While serving as a core medical provider in our small clinic, provides leadership and supervision to members of the medical staff and assures that high quality primary health care is delivered and documented in accordance with state and federal regulations and current professional standards of practice. Provides primary medical care to patients of all ages at SCHC.

Requirements

Education:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school strongly preferred, related medical experience and qualifications such as DNP considered on an individual basis.
  • Board Certified or board eligible in applicable field (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine), and a minimum of five years of applicable experience required.

License/Certification:

  • Current State of Alaska physician or other relevant license required.
  • Maintain certifications and training necessary to meet SCHC credentialing policies required.
  • Current DEA license required (or in application process at time of hire).
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS, PALS and ATLS certification preferred.
  • Current or ability to obtain within 90-days, certification to complete CDL physicals.

Experience:

  • Two or more years’ experience in an outpatient health clinic setting required.
  • Three or more years of leadership experience in a similar role or level of responsibility required.
  • Experience in a community health center setting working with underserved populations preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing quality improvement programs required.
