Schedule:

  • 40 hours/week – Sunday – Wednesday 2pm-12am

This position has potential for on-call overnight shifts that are compensated.

Overview

The Crisis Specialist conducts mental health crisis assessments at the local hospital and in the community and operates as part of an interdisciplinary team at Options Crisis Resolution Center (CRC).

The CRC provides short term respite and mental health stabilization to adults. Options’ CRC, an innovative, inpatient hospital diversion and respite program. As part of this dynamic program you will work with other Crisis Specialists on an interdisciplinary team that offers psychiatry, nursing, mental health therapy, co-occurring disorders treatment, gambling treatment and skills training services for adults from all walks of life. This 15 bed, secure, short term, transitional program works closely with a large network of programs within Options and with multiple community partners to help individuals along their recovery path.

Training on the specifics of this position is provided. Shadowing of current Crisis Specialists is a component of this training as is classroom, interactive education on differential diagnosis, confidentiality, therapeutic boundaries, and the electronic health record.

Responsibilities

This position performs diagnostic assessments and formulates diagnoses, screens patients for a mental health hold, may offer respite or diversion from hospitalization to Option’s inpatient program, and develops safety plans with patients and their significant others. Responds to requests for mental health screenings in the community and determines next steps for care. Provides clinical recovery-focused services to clients with mental illness and co-occurring disorders in individual and group settings. Collaborates with client and treatment team in development of individual treatment plan.

Qualifications

This position requires a Master's degree in a behavioral science, an understanding of co-occurring disorders, and related experience.

Experience with substance abuse treatment for dually diagnosed clients preferred.

Must be able to complete the hospital credentialing process with assistance from Options’ Credentialing team. Drug testing is required for this position.

Must be registered as a licensure intern with the State of Oregon or be licensed in Oregon as an LMFT, LCSW, LPC or clinical Psychologist.

Must be a QMHP on the Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) registry.

In order to avoid potential conflict of interest, applicants for this position cannot have received services from Options for Southern Oregon within the last 12 months.

Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred.

Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.
