The nurse administrator is responsible for the overall management and coordination of functions for Health Services (which includes Home Health, Assisted Living Center, Supportive Living Center and Short-Term Rehabilitation Center). Responsible for and supports the medical care and service within the Health Service department consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the Charter House and Mayo Clinic. The nurse administrator holds the accountability to manage within the context of the organization as a whole, and to transform organizational values into daily operations yielding an efficient, effective, and caring organization. This includes management of designated clinical nursing practice and management of programs, systems, and services that are evidence based and support the clinical practice of nursing. The nurse administrator is responsible to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate policies, programs, and services related to assigned functions including nursing workload, annual budget planning process, and employee recruitment and retention. The nurse administrator participates in assessing the environment, forecasting trends, transmitting values, communicating ideas, coaching and mentoring others, managing resources, and assuring that core values are implemented. Interacts closely with clients/residents who have care and service within the Health Service units, family members, and visitors. The director adheres to Standards of Clinical Nursing and the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. The nurse administrator participates and/or chairs a variety of committees essential to the functions of Health Services at Charter House and meeting organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a Master's degree in business or a health-related field. Will consider applicants meeting all other qualifications who commit to degree completion within six months from application date. Minimum of three years in nursing service administration with line management responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in long term care, home health or acute care nursing is preferred. Gerontological Certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently. Requires good communication and human skills to interact with the recipients of care, their family members, and all Charter staff. Strong problem solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, compare, sort, and prioritize information to be used in the decision-making process for groups of residents and employees. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress with successful management experience. Must be able to be flexible with hours worked. Must be willing to be actively involved at clinical as well as administrative and managerial levels.

Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing.

Nursing Home Administrator/Assisted Living license preferred. Will consider candidates willing to pursue licensure in the next year.
