KHS reasonably expects to pay starting compensation for the position of Information Security Engineer in the range of $113,198 - 143,639 annual.

About the role
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Operations and supervision, the Security Engineer functions as a technical lead for the Information Security team at Kern Health Systems (KHS). Primary responsibilities include researching and recommending solutions, Information Security architecture, and evaluation of solutions to meet Information Security Team goals.
The Information Security Engineer is expected to stay abreast of with current technologies and processes of the profession and is expected to provide leadership among the staff of the department. Success in this role requires they be skilled at organization, scheduling, and technical leadership abilities and may prepare and conduct formal training programs as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Employment Standards
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field and three (3) years of experience in an Information Security Analyst or Engineer role required.
OR
Seven (7) years of experience in an Information Security Analyst or Engineer role required.
In-depth knowledge of Information Security principles, protocols, and technologies.
Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM solutions (Sentinel), EDR/XDR platforms, and antivirus software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and identify security risks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Certifications (e.g., CISSP, CySA, CEH, Security+) are a plus.
Working Conditions
Environment: While performing duties of job, employee is required to move about the organization for roughly 15% of the day. Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, as well as work at the computer for long periods for up to and sometimes beyond 50% of the day.
