KHS reasonably expects to pay starting compensation for the position of BI Governance Analyst III in the range of $41.08– $53.27 hourly.

General Purpose:

The Data Governance Analyst roles are responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing data governance standards, strategy, and best practices; as well as to help ensure that data is trusted, accurate, and effectively utilized across the organization.

The Data Governance Analyst III position is a mid-level position in the organization and one of the primary interfaces for enhancing the data governance framework, strategy, and roadmap. The role will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to initiate investigative efforts for root-cause analysis through data mining and be an independent or collaborative thinker. The position interacts with Executives, Business Management, Technical Management, and other disciplines and contributes to the data governance program for operational and business purposes. The Data Governance Analyst III works with internal and external customers to monitor and evaluate the performance and compliance of data governance activities, using data governance tools and software, such as data cataloging, data profiling, data lineage, metadata management, and data quality management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General

  • Participate in and contribute to the Agile and Project Management methodologies from planning to execution (i.e., requirements gathering; decomposition, development, etc.) in support of departmental or corporate projects.
  • Be an organized individual that is willing to accept responsibility, demonstrate good judgment, take initiative, show resourcefulness, and learn quickly.
  • Mentor users across the organization to promote data governance in all aspects of clinical and business operations.
  • Support various data governance committees and working groups, ensuring effective collaboration and communication among technical owners, data stewards, data consumers, and other data governance stakeholders within the organization.
  • Provide user education of business intelligence and data governance applications to assist in ensuring access to data with the goal of promoting self-service and reducing reliance on technical resources.
  • Participate in the entire lifecycle for Business Intelligence Solution Delivery.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in time management by participating in multiple priority projects and shifting priorities as needed to produce accurate and precise work, conduct quality assurance, and resolve discrepancies all while meeting deadlines.
  • Enhance the data governance framework, strategy, and roadmap for our organization, ensuring alignment with healthcare industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Contribute to data governance policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards to ensure the quality, security, integrity, availability, and usability of data assets, which include clinical, financial, and operational data.

Technical

  • Identify and resolve data governance-related issues, risks, and gaps, as well as propose and implement improvement actions and solutions.
  • Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) skills by creating presentations, rulesets, templates, charts, pivot tables, formulas, and calculations.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Structured Query Language (SQL) and create complex SQL statements within various data structures.
  • Monitor and manage data quality within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and related data integration processes, ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive data catalog; Ensure that business metadata, such as data definitions, business rules, and data owners, are properly documented in the catalog.
  • Demonstrate strong visual design skills used in delivering data governance insights featuring easy to understand reports.

Analytics

  • Possess a deep understanding of one or more major business disciplines with a robust understanding of the processes, functions, and operations of the Managed Care Organization (MCO).
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of managed care principals and healthcare data governance practices to support critical business needs.
  • Identify and describe current technology, products, and services for one or more major business disciplines with an understanding of the technical architecture.
  • Understand the influence of data on operations in various departments and document or investigate issues as to why a certain behavior or outcome is exhibited through the department’s data or reports.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and ensure they meet or exceed defined standards.
  • Participate in gaining consensus on guidelines and metric definitions (Key Performance Issues/ KPIs).
  • Promote data governance principles and contribute to the inventory of KPIs, metrics, and operational or regulatory reporting for the organization.
  • Assist in resolving data-related issues by tracing data lineage.

Communications

  • Act as a liaison between business and IT teams to align data governance initiatives with business goals.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and technical owners to rectify any data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and technical owners to support categorization, tagging, and annotating data assets in the data catalog.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to ensure clarity on data origins, transformations, and usage.
  • Facilitate meetings or communications an interface between business units, technology teams, and other supporting resources.
  • Communicate clearly via verbal and written means. Interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Define, document, and maintain the flow of data across systems and processes.

Employment Standards:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems from an accredited school or equivalent; or related field with an academic demonstration of analytical skills required; AND six (6) years’ working experience with a Managed Care Organization (MCO) or similar type organization performing complex analytics or similar type of work.

-OR-

Ten (10) years' working experience with a Managed Care Organization (MCO) or similar type of organization with a minimum of six (6) years acting primarily in a business analytical capacity;

Other: Possession of valid California Driver’s License and proof of valid state-required auto liability insurance. Required Travel Up to 10%.
