Clinical Operations Director - UC Health Business Center - Ambulatory Services(Job Number: 046624)


Primary Purpose:

The Director of Clinical Operations is accountable for achieving the desired clinical, operational, financial, growth and people goals at assigned clinics.

This leadership role has responsibility for assisting UC Health achieve its mission of advancing healing and reducing suffering. This position is expected to unceasingly lead the creation of an environment that is focused on patient-centered care, and embraces the PRIIDE values.


  • Provide leadership, direction and coordination of all clinical operations
  • Collaborate with physicians and providers to ensure the provision of safe, effective and cost efficient patient care
  • Establish benchmarks for clinic staffing and monitors on an ongoing basis
  • Organize work processes and work units to promote efficient delivery of care
  • Monitor workload and systems, coordinating resources to optimize operation efficiencies and patient satisfaction
  • Align internal resources to enhance patient care and patient experience
  • Initiate and leads operational and quality improvement initiatives
  • Lead, develop and mentor clinic supervisory and management staff
  • Responsible for the planning and achievement of clinic financial goals
  • Work collaboratively with revenue cycle and contract departments to assure timely and accurate capture of charges for services provided, prompt response to claim rejections, and compliance with all reimbursement procedures
  • Foster collaborative relationships with School of Medicine Departmental Administrators, Medical Directors and Department Chairs
  • Complete required reporting in a timely manner, including productivity reports and monthly operating review data
  • Participate in the development of strategic plans to grow clinic reach and volume
  • Ensure compliance of regulatory standards for internal policies
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge and Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related area and at least one of the following: MBA, MPA, MHA, MSN.

Years of Experience: Five or more years work experience in an Ambulatory/Outpatient setting or multi-specialty clinic/practice environment. Experience must include: People management, finance and budget management, quality, safety and regulatory management.
